Welcome to Engineering License Advancement Program (ELAP)

ELAP is a structured multi-year program guiding EITs, Co-op Students and internationally trained engineers through the pathway to Professional Engineer (P.Eng) licensure in Canada.

About ELAP

Early engagement in the professional engineering licensure process is essential for building competencies in a structured and progressive manner. Starting preparation on time allows candidates to align their education, work experience, and professional practice with regulatory requirements. This proactive approach prevents delays, mitigates compliance risks, and provides a clear framework for tracking competency development.

The Engineering License Advancement Program (ELAP) provides a structured framework to support progressive competency development. The program focuses on technical, regulatory, and professional practice competencies through guided mentorship, structured learning pathways, and targeted assessments. It ensures candidates systematically acquire and demonstrate required competencies, identifies gaps in experience, and provides mechanisms for bridging deficiencies in alignment with regulatory body requirements and engineering best practices.

Program Structure

The ELAP structure is designed to accommodate the unique background, experience, and stage of licensure preparation for each candidate. Program routes are tailored to address individual needs while maintaining strict alignment with regulatory expectations. Candidates may enrol at any point within the four-year program framework, with the curriculum and mentorship calibrated to ensure continuity of development, progressive skill acquisition, and regulatory compliance.
